Mary Landrieu Says She’s Fighting For Louisiana Energy, But She’s Actually Fighting Against It
Arlington, VA – Freedom Partners Action Fund announced this evening that it is launching a new ad campaign in Louisiana highlighting how Mary Landrieu has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Senate candidates who support President Obama’s anti-energy agenda.
Sen. Landrieu frequently claims that her “clout” in Washington means that she’ll be able to deliver positive energy solutions for her state. What she fails to mention is that her very own PAC has helped elect candidates who have blocked the Keystone XL pipeline, fought to implement a national carbon tax and voted against new offshore drilling leases that would bolster Louisiana’s families and businesses.
As the new ad points out, Landrieu has “contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to elect anti-energy senators who vote against Louisiana oil and gas.”
Since 2006, Landrieu’s “JAZZ PAC” has sent $380,000 to re-elect Senate candidates who vehemently oppose the same energy industry that Louisianans count on for their economic well-being.
When Mary Landrieu says she has the “clout” to shape an energy policy that works for Louisiana, she isn’t being up-front with her constituents. The new ad makes clear, “Mary Landrieu hasn’t just forgotten where she came from. She’s working against us.”
Freedom Partners Action Fund Spokesman James Davis issued the following statement:
“When Senator Landrieu is visiting Louisiana, she says one thing; but behind the scenes in Washington, she does the opposite. Sen. Landrieu tells constituents she supports Louisiana’s energy industry, while at the same time cutting deals and helping elect anti-energy Senators who oppose Louisiana’s way of life. She’s not working for Louisianans, she’s working against them.”
