Arlington, VA – In advance of this evening’s Pennsylvania U.S. Senate debate, Freedom Partners Action Fund has put together three key questions for Katie McGinty on cronyism, […]
Freedom Partners Action Fund congratulates U.S. Senator Pat Toomey.
Using insights gained from surveys and focus groups, Freedom Partners Action Fund’s early advertising helped elevate the issues of cronyism and corporate welfare into the political debate. The ads put Katie McGinty on defense over how she benefitted by moving between public and private positions, and the issue of corporate welfare became a major theme of Senator Pat Toomey’s campaign.
In total, Freedom Partners Action Fund spent more than $7 million in paid advertising in Pennsylvania driving this theme, beginning nearly six months before Election Day. In the end, it was enough to make the difference in one of the closest and most expensive races in the country – helping propel Toomey to a narrow, 1.5 percent victory over Katie McGinty, and helping expose the corrupting influence of corporate welfare for millions of Pennsylvanians.
Freedom Partners Action Fund supports Pat Toomey for reelection because he puts Pennsylvania first, and holds Washington accountable to families, veterans, and taxpayers. He has fought against using taxpayer money to subsidize foreign companies and big banks on Wall Street. He has advanced legislation to ensure our veterans receive the quality and timely care they earned and deserve. And, both inside and outside of the U.S. Senate, he has fought for taxpayers by opposing wasteful government spending and supporting a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Pat Toomey knows that jobs come from a healthy, growing economy – not from a growing government.
Throughout her career, Katie McGinty has put special interests and her own interests ahead of Pennsylvania’s interests. She has supported cap-and-trade, higher taxes on natural gas, and excessive regulations on traditional energy – all of which will drive up the costs of energy and other goods, and drive out good-paying Pennsylvania jobs. After she left office she was awarded hefty paychecks and leadership positions from energy companies that benefited from the taxpayer handouts she supported. In addition, Katie McGinty supported the largest tax increase in Pennsylvania’s history and believes that Democrats should be “proud of” Obamacare. It’s clear that if Katie McGinty represented Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate, jobs, paychecks, and health care would suffer.
